Elmira, NY – EC Men's Basketball took the court today looking to earn their first E8 victory of the season against the visiting Ducks of Stevens Tech. Stevens entered today's game after suffering a five point loss to the Bombers of Ithaca College while the Soaring Eagles looked to bounce back from a loss to Hartwick College.
The first half was played a very fast pace with both teams looking to run with the ball any chance they had. Stevens shot the ball well in the first half going 16-of-29 from the field while Elmira went 9-for-30. EC could not find their stroke from the field even though they were getting open looks at the hoop leading to a 36-24 deficit going into halftime.
The second half would be much close as Stevens would outscore Elmira 32-29 in the half. Elmira again didn't shoot the ball particularly well but did play tighter defense in the half. Elmira was led offensively by Zach Simpson '11 (Savona, NY -- Campbell-Savona) and Eric Klinedinst '12 (York, PA -- Northeastern). Simpson finished the game with 10 points and 7 boards while Klinedinst added another 10 from the bench.
Elmira Men's Basketball will look to bounce back as they host the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College on Friday, January 28th in the Speidel Gymnasium in Elmira, NY. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
