Elmira, NY – The EC Women's Tennis team lost a tight match today against the Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport, 6-3. The Soaring Eagles put up a good fight, but could not edge the hard-hitting Golden Eagles.
Amy Schmidt '15 (Batavia, NY -- Batavia) and
Melanie Walker '13 (Scranton, PA -- Scranton) put up the best fight winning at second doubles 9-7. The match was a tough test for the duo, but
Schmidt and
Walker held their ground fighting out for the win. Singles showed more promise for the Soaring Eagles with wins at sixth singles and fourth singles.
Micah Moskoff '14 (Somerset, MA -- Somerset) at six singles showed tremendous improvement this year winning her match 7-5, 6-3.
Alex Putney '12 (Dundee, NY -- Hammondsport) at fourth singles showed tremendous dedication with the comeback three set win 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
Schmidt at second singles also put in a great effort losing in a tight three set battle 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 3-6.
The Women's Tennis team returns for their last match of the season Saturday as they travel to Hoboken, NJ to take on the Ducks of Stevens Institute at 1:00 p.m.
