Softball Stumbles in E8 Double-Header at St. John Fisher

Pittsford, NY -- EC Softball dropped two road games this afternoon to host St. John Fisher College.  Fisher rallied for a 2-1 win in game one and shutout the Soaring Eagles in game two, winning 4-0.

The score remained 0-0 through the first three innings of play in game one as both pitches shut down the opposing batters.  Elmira got on the scoreboard first as Alex Andrade '13 (Fairhaven, MA -- Bishop Stang) singled up the middle, bringing home Jacqueline Gibson '11 (Jersey Shore, PA -- Jersey Shore Area) from third base at the top of the fourth inning.

Fisher responded with two, two-out runs in the bottom half of the inning giving them a 2-1 lead.  EC was unable to produce any more runs in the game as Fisher pitcher Danielle Leone '13 closed the game out for the win.

In game two Elmira was unable to get any offense going as the Cardinals shutout the Soaring Eagles, 4-0 in 7 innings of play.  Elmira will be back in action on Saturday, April 16th as they host the Tigers of RIT in an Empire 8 double-header.  Game one is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Eldridge Park in Elmira, NY.
