Pine Valley, NY -- The Soaring Eagles Men's Tennis team fell in Empire 8 action this afternoon to the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College. Elmira claimed a doubles point but was only able to take two of six singles match in a 6-3 loss.
Third doubles combo Gorav Simlote '13 (Syracuse, NY -- Jamesville-Dewitt) and Sam Pine '14 (Elmira Heights, NY -- Thomas Edison) earned EC's only doubles point of the afternoon at the third position. Elmira would find themselves ahead at 5-4, returning serve. The duo would break Nazareth's service game and follow that up with a hold of serve from Pine. Down 7-4 the Golden Flyers would break back and hold to bring the score to 7-6. Pine would have another solid service game to take the match at 8-6.
In singles play Elmira took points at the second and sixth spots. At second singles Eric Klinedinst '12 (York, PA -- Northeastern) rolled to a 6-0 6-1 win as he made quick work of his opponent. At the sixth spot Pine would earn his second point of the day as he won his match 6-2, 6-1.
The Soaring Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, April 16th as they host the Tigers of RIT in Empire 8 action. Play is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletics Center in Pine Valley, NY.
