Empire 8 Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Empire 8 Conference announced on Tuesday morning that Elmira College men's tennis senior Jordan Curtis '19 was selected to the 2019 E8 Sportsman of the Year Team.

Each institution is represented by one student-athlete on the Sportsman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission.

In his final season, Curtis won five matches, three of which came against conference opponents. While appearing as high as No. 2 in the lineup, the Wolcott, New York, native recorded four singles victories, all of which came during a 4-1 run from March 9 through April 6. His season-long three-match win streak concluded back-to-back conference wins against The Sage Colleges and Utica College. Against the Gators, Curtis swept both matches, as he teamed up with Frank Endieveri III '21 for his lone doubles win of the season.

Curtis combined to win 22 matches in four years with the Soaring Eagles. A former Section V Class C singles champion at North-Rose Wolcott High School, he continued to perform well in singles action, where he earned 16 of his career wins with the Purple and Gold.
