Ithaca, NY– The Elmira College Women's Tennis team opened their 2011 season with a tough loss against Ithaca College. Ithaca claimed all three doubles points and rallied to take all six singles points giving them the win.
Although EC was unable to claim a match today, they saw lots of promise from four year players Bri Palmiero '12 (Rochester, NY -- Bishop Kearney) and Alexandra Putney '12 (Dundee, NY – Hammondsport) at No.1 doubles losing only 4-8. Also showing great potential was Kayla Fitzgerald '15 (Thomaston, CT -- Thomaston) at No. 5 singles losing 6-0, 6-3 and Amanda Hart-Hampstead '13 (Topsham, ME – Arart) at No. 6 singles losing 6-1, 6-1.
The Women's Tennis team will look to re-cooperate and respond for their next test on Saturday, September 10th against Utica College at 1:00 p.m., whom is a fellow Empire 8 opponent.
