Keys Scores Season High in Loss to Hamilton

Clinton, NY – The Elmira College Men's Basketball team fell to host Hamilton College, 53-48, Tuesday evening at Scott Field House. Josh Keys '14 (Bel Air, MD -- CM Wright) scored a season-high and game-high of 29 points in the tough loss. The win improves the Continentals to 12-8 overall, while the loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 0-20 overall.

In the first half the Soaring Eagles got off to a hot start going on a 13-4 run over the first nine minutes of the game. The Continentals fought back making some jumpers, but EC kept playing hard stretching its lead to as many as 12 points with six minutes left in the half. Hamilton cut the lead down to four points near the end of the half, but Keys made a crucial three-pointer with one second left to put EC up 28-21 going into halftime. 

In the second half the Continentals came out fighting, trying to cut the Soaring Eagles' lead down. Around the 15 minute mark the Continentals got the game within one point and eventually took the lead at the 13:37 mark. Hamilton would stay in control for the remainder of the half, with EC only getting the lead back down to four at the 53 second mark.
 
In the game Keys drained seven three pointers and shot 10-18 from the field leading the Soaring Eagles in scoring with 29 points. Eric Klinedinst '12 (York, PA -- Northeastern) pulled down 11 boards and dished out a game-high six assists. Chris Cassidy '14 (Colts Neck, NJ -- Colts Neck) grabbed eight rebounds and blocked two shots. Leading the Continentals were Greg Newton with 18 points and Peter Kazickas with 16 points.  
 
The Elmira College Men's Basketball team returns to action Friday when it travels to Hoboken, NJ to take on Stevens Institute of Technology in conference action. The game tips off at 8:00 p.m.
