Soaring Eagles Struggle in Season Opener

Pine Valley, NY – The Elmira College Women's Tennis team suffered a tough season opener to the Red Dragons of Oneonta State University Wednesday afternoon. The Purple and Gold team fought hard as it was outmatched by a hard hitting Red Dragons squad.

In doubles, Oneonta showed its dominance by winning all three matches and only dropping one game at the third doubles position. In singles, EC played tough taking many games to deuce with Amy Schmidt '15 and Megan Boisclair '15 both getting three games off of their opponents. Playing in their first matches as Soaring Eagles, Ellen Plowman '16 and Stephanie Tock '16 showed great signs of success still to come this season.

The Women's tennis team returns to action Sunday, September 2nd when it faces conference powerhouse Stevens Institute of Technology at the Murray Athletic Center starting at 10:00 a.m.
