Oswego, NY – The Elmira College Men's Tennis team earned another victory today by sweeping the Oswego State University Lakers, 9-0. The Soaring Eagles improve to 2-0, while the Lakers fall to 1-3.
Elmira started off strong from the beginning of the match by taking all three doubles points with identical scores of 8-2. In singles action both teams battled well, but Elmira was able to get the better hand.
Pavle Vashakidze '16 and
Steffan Waters '13 each ruled in their matches prevailing with identical scores of 6-4, 6-0.
Gorav Simlote '13 played well at the second singles spot winning 6-0, 6-2.
Satchal Waters '16 and
George Smith '13 each played hard in their matches both easily winning in straight sets.
Sam Pine '14 had the toughest match on the day, but stepped up to the occasion by winning 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
The Soaring Eagles will return to action tomorrow when they host Roberts Wesleyan College in a non-conference battle at the Murray Athletic Center. Play is set to start at 4:00 p.m
