Pine Valley, NY – The Elmira College Women's Tennis team won its second straight conference match of the season beating Alfred University, 7-2, Tuesday at the Murray Athletic Center. The Soaring Eagles improve to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8 conference, while the Saxons fall to 4-6 overall and 1-4 in conference action.
The Purple and Gold dominated the doubles play winning at first doubles, 8-5, second doubles, 8-3 and third doubles, 8-6. In singles action EC continued to control the match winning at first, third, fourth and sixth singles.
Amy Schmidt '15 continued her excellent play from the weekend as she won 6-1, 6-4.
Kayla Fitzgerald '15 played extremely well at third singles pulling off a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Ayaka Yoshino '16 also played great at fourth singles easily winning 6-1, 6-1 and
Micah Moskoff '14 was able to complete a three set comeback 4-6, 6-0, 7-6 (10-7) at sixth singles.
The Soaring Eagles will return to action tomorrow when they travel to North Chili, NY to face non-conference opponent Roberts Wesleyan College starting at 4:00 p.m.
