Women’s Tennis Wins Against Fisher

Mendon, NY – The EC Women's Tennis team proved to be strong again beating St. John Fisher College, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at Mendon Racquet Club. The Soaring Eagles improve to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the Empire 8 conference, while the Cardinals fall to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in conference action.

In the beginning, the Soaring Eagles were able to dominate second and third doubles. The duo of Kayla Fitzgerald '15 and Ayaka Yoshino '16 proved to be very strong winning 8-4 at the second spot. Micah Moskoff '14 and Ellen Plowman '16 also showed excellent skills winning 8-1 at the third spot.

EC also was able to control most of the tempo in singles winning four out of the six matches. Yoshino, Moskoff and Stephanie Tock '16 gave up a total of five games helping EC to a team victory, while Amy Schmidt '15 battled well in her singles match up pulling off the upset in a third set tiebreaker.

The Soaring Eagles will return to action Tuesday, October 2nd when they travel to Oswego, NY to face Oswego State University in non-conference action. The match is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
