Hoboken, NJ – The EC Men's Tennis team put up its very best fight, but only came through with one team point at third doubles falling to regionally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology, 8-1, Sunday afternoon. The No. 13 regionally ranked Ducks improve to 8-6 overall and 4-0 in Empire 8 play, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in conference action.
The Stevens Ducks played incredibly tough at the first and second doubles spots limiting any chances for the Soaring Eagles. However, at third doubles,
Satchal Waters '16 and
Austin Mansell '16 took it to the Ducks forcing them to go the distance.
Waters and
Mansell played well forcing the Ducks to make some critical errors in the end eventually pulling off the upset 8-6 to give EC its solo point.
In singles action the Ducks continued to control and dominate all six matches limiting EC's hope for the upset.
Mansell and
Keith Bujak '15 showed fight in their singles matches, but each could only get three games.
The EC Men's Tennis team will have a little break before returning to action Wednesday, April 17 when it faces off with conference opponent Alfred University at 4:00 p.m.
