Bujak and Mansell Win as Men’s Tennis Falls to Nazareth

Pine Valley, NY – Keith Bujak '15 and Austin Mansell '16 won in their singles matches, but it would not be enough as the EC Men's Tennis team fell to Nazareth College 7-2 Sunday afternoon at the Murray Athletic Center. The Golden Flyers improve to 4-8 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Bujak and Sam Pine '14 played well to open up the doubles matches. They took the early lead and continuously battled with Nazareth's Ryan McCormick and Tyler Williams at the first doubles spot before falling 9-7. At the second and third doubles spots the Golden Flyers took it to the Soaring Eagles earning the victories 8-1 and 8-4 to take an early team lead.

In singles, Elmira battled much harder putting everything on the line to force some mistakes from Nazareth. Bujak and Mansell were able to come through with wins at the fourth and sixth singles spots giving EC two team points. Steffan Waters '13, at third singles, struggled in his first set 6-2, but was able to fight back winning the second set 6-3 forcing a final third set tiebreaker where he lost 10-4.
