Elmira, NY -- The EC men's basketball team will open up 2014 with a pair of Empire 8 Conference games this weekend. The Soaring Eagles will travel to Nazareth College on Friday, January 3rd before returning home the following day for their first home contest of 2014 against St. John Fisher College.

EC in the New Year
Elmira will open the New Year against Nazareth College on Friday, January 3rd. Last year, the Soaring Eagles opened the New Year with a 64-58 win over Oberlin College. The win over Oberlin snapped a nine year winless streak in games opening the New Year.

Make That Four in a Row
In Elmira's last game against Clarkson, Neil Randolph '15 scored 20 points, marking the fourth straight game he has registered 20-plus points in a game. Former EC standout Micah Owens '06 was the last EC player to score 20 or more points in four consecutive games when he did it in the last four contests of the 2005-06 season.

Double-Digit Scoring Streak
Randolph has scored double-digits in each of the first seven games of the 2013-14 season, the only EC player to do so this year. He is one double-digit performance away from matching the eight game streak by Bobby DiPiazza '11 when he did it to open the 2008-09 season, but the forward has a ways to go to equal the 13-game streak that Micah Owens '06 put together to start the 2005-06 season.

Top 30 Shooter
Josh Keys '14 is making 3.29 three point baskets per game this season. He ranks 29th in the nation in that category.

Empire 8 Leader
Randolph is averaging 22.1 points per game this season, good enough to rank as the Empire 8 Conference's leading scorer. His 22.1 points per game is 32nd in the nation.
