Elmira, NY --
The Elmira College men's basketball team (3-6, 0-2 E8) struggled to get things going offensively as they fell to visiting St. John Fisher College (7-4, 1-0 E8), 59-44 at Speidel Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Kurt Dutcher '14 came off the bench to score 10 points on 4-5 shooting, but he was the only EC player in double figures.

The Soaring Eagles led 2-1 just three minutes into the first half, but that would be their only lead of the game as the Cardinals used a 20-7 run to break open a 12-point advantage. EC brought it down to a five point deficit, but that would be as close as the Purple and Gold would get as St. John Fisher would hold a 32-23 edge as the first half came to a close.

Elmira came out with full court pressure in the second half in an attempt to cut into the lead, but the Soaring Eagles could not cool off the Cardinals as St. John Fisher shot 47 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes of play to stretch their lead to 17. EC would not hit a basket in the final five minutes of the contest as they fell 59-44.

The Purple and Gold get a few days to regroup before squaring off with St. Lawrence University in a non-conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Speidel Gymnasium.
