Wyatt Katsos '17 had a strong showing today, making 11 saves in 45 minutes of action.
Elmira played a stellar first half against the 11th ranked Bombers of Ithaca as the Soaring Eagles trailed just 6-2 at halftime.
Dustin Gatt '14 and Correia tallied goals for the Purple and Gold in the first half.
However, Ithaca's strong effort in the third quarter would prove to be the difference as the Bombers opened the quarter with eight straight goals and would eventually outscore Elmira, 13-1. Scoring EC's lone goal of the quarter was
Brady Richards '14.
The Soaring Eagles looked to stage a comeback in the fourth quarter as Elmira's
Brian Conzola '14 and Correia scored the quarter's first two goals. Unfortunately for EC, Ithaca would answer with a pair of goals and hold Elmira scoreless for the remainder of the game as the Bombers claimed their first Empire 8 Conference win of the year, 21-5.
Elmira will be back in action this Tuesday, March 25th as the Purple and Gold travel to take on the Lakers of Oswego State in non-conference battle. Faceoff is set for 4:00 p.m. in Oswego, NY.
