Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's basketball team welcomes a pair of Empire 8 opponents to Speidel Gymnasium this weekend, with play beginning tonight, February 13th at 8:00 p.m. against Stevens Tech.
Last Time OutThe Soaring Eagles dropped a pair of Empire 8 Conference games over the weekend to St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College. EC trailed St. John Fisher by just eight points with 5:47 to play, but the Cardinals used a 7-0 run to put the game out of reach. Then, on Saturday, Elmira trailed Nazareth by three points with less than 10 seconds left in regulation, but a three-pointer from
Justin Henderson '16 sent the game into overtime. The Soaring Eagles and Golden Flyers played a total of three overtimes, with Nazareth eventually escaping with a 95-93 victory after Henderson's game-winning three-point attempt rattled in-and-out at the buzzer.
Welcome to the Club!Neil Randolph '15 became the latest Elmira College men's basketball player to reach 1,000 career points on Friday against St. John Fisher College. He needed just three points to join the 1,000-point club entering last Friday night's game and accomplished the feat with his first shot of the contest. Randolph is the 16th player in EC men's basketball history to record 1,000 career points and the second in as many seasons.
All-Time vs. Stevens TechThe Ducks and Soaring Eagles have met 15 times since Stevens Tech joined the Empire 8 in the 2007-08 season, including once this season. Stevens has defeated EC in each of the 15 games.
A Look at the DucksStevens Tech improved to 10-11 on the season with a 78-59 victory over U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday. The Ducks' top three scorers, Patrick Sabatino (12.9 ppg), Patrick Barron (12.4 ppg), and Otis Osman (10.8 ppg), paved the way in the victory, scoring 16, 20, and 11 points, respectively.

Scouting HartwickHartwick College enters the weekend on a five-game win streak that has improved their overall and Empire 8 Conference records to 13-8 and 8-4, respectively. The Hawks are led by a trio of double-digit scorers in Joey Lufkin (14.2 ppg), Trevor Norton (13.1 ppg), and Matt Wilson (11.0 ppg). Wilson holds the team lead with 8.2 rebounds per contest while Lufkin is tops with 3.0 helpers per game.
