Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team will host Oswego State today at 4:00 p.m. at Corning Community College.
Home OpenerToday's game against Oswego State marks Elmira's first home contest of the 2015 regular season, although it will be taking place away from EC's home field at Corning Community College. Since 2003, the Purple and Gold have gone 6-6 in home opening games and have won four of the past five home openers. Elmira's most recent home-opening win came in the 2013 season when the Soaring Eagles defeated Houghton College, 26-2.
Empire 8 LeaderWyatt Katsos '17 has been a mainstay between the posts this season for the Soaring Eagles, getting the start in all five of EC's games in 2015. Katsos has validated Coach Chapman's confidence in him, as he owns 72 saves on the year and leads the Empire 8 Conference with 14.40 saves per game, a mark that also ranks inside the top 25 in the country.
A Look At OswegoAfter beginning the year 3-0, the Lakers have hit a rough patch, dropping their last three games as they stand at 3-3 entering Tuesday's non-conference matchup. Oswego is led on offense this year by a pair of seniors in Nick Giampaolo '15 and Matt Palmer '15. Giampaolo leads the Lakers with 10 points on five goals and a team-high five assists, while Palmer is second with eight points on a team-high six goals and two helpers.
All-Time SeriesSince 2003, Elmira has played Oswego just twice, with meetings in 2013 and 2014. The Lakers have been victorious in both previous meetings.
