Softball Opens Empire 8 Conference Play this Weekend

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College softball team will travel the Flower City this weekend to compete in double headers against Nazareth College tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. and then St. John Fisher College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both double headers will be Empire 8 Conference matchups this weekend.  
 
Last Time Out
The Soaring Eagles swept Alfred State College in their season-opening doubleheader on Thursday, winning game one, 5-3, before taking down the Pioneers, 8-3, in game two. EC scored two runs in the first inning of both games, using the strong starts to vault them to a pair of non-conference victories.
 
Five for Carlin

Emily Carlin '17 opened her sophomore campaign with a bang against Alfred State, going 3-for-6 from the plate with one home run and totaling five RBI. The five RBI she accumulated in two games are more than 25 percent of the number of runs she drove in last year (19) in 32 games.
 
Condidorio's Debut
Kelsey Condidorio '18 competed in her first career game in game one against Alfred State and posted the first win of her career. She pitched all seven innings, struck out three batters, and gave up just three runs.
 
Series History vs. Nazareth
Elmira has competed against Nazareth in double headers every year since 2007. Since that time, the Golden Flyers hold the series advantage at 10-6. The Purple and Gold's last win came in 2013 win EC took the first game of the double header, 2-0.
 
Series History vs. St. John Fisher
The Cardinals hold the series advantage since the 2003 season with a 21-6 record. However, hold the slight advantage in the past three years with a 4-3 record.
