Amherst, NY -- Only two days after dominating D'Youville College, the Elmira College women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback on the road against Daemen College – an NCAA Division II institution – Tuesday night.

The Soaring Eagles earned their only point of the match at second doubles, with the duo of Megan Fitzgerald '18 and Stephanie Tock '16 taking down freshman Jessica Robins and sophomore Gretchen Ringler, 8-4.

Caitlin Dwyer '16 and Emily Green '18 put up a strong fight at third doubles but lost their match, 8-6, to Daemen sophomore Sarah Crissy and freshman Delaney Fragle.

EC was swept in singles play for the first time this season and the first time since September 5, 2013. Ayaka Yoshino '16 was hoping to break the three-way tie for most singles wins in EC history Tuesday night, but will have to wait until the next match for an opportunity to climb the record books as she was defeated by Karli Hollins at first singles, 7-6, 6-3.

Although Fitzgerald was able to grab the win in doubles play, she was unable to defeat Robins one-on-one. The 6-4, 6-3 loss marks the first for Fitzgerald in singles in 2015 after being the season 3-0.
