Hoboken, NJ -- The Elmira College women's tennis team looked to get back on track this afternoon against the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology, as the Purple and Gold took the courts in Hoboken, NJ that overlook the New York City skyline.  Unfortunately for the Soaring Eagles, the Ducks would come out victorious by a 6-3 score line. 
 
Turning Point
Elmira trailed 2-1 entering single play and with each team winning a pair of singles match, the Soaring Eagles trailed 4-3 with two matches to play at third and sixth singles.  With the match on the line, Elmira saw Stephanie Tock '16 and Caitlin Dwyer '16 pull out the second sets of their matches to force a third set at third and sixth singles, respectively.  Both Tock and Dwyer would put forth a great effort in the third but unfortunately the Soaring Eagles would come up short, sealing Stevens' 6-3 win.

• Elmira won matches this afternoon at first doubles as well as at first and fourth singles.
• Ellen Plowman '16 and Yoshino teamed up for an 8-6 win at first doubles.
• Yoshino picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at first singles, her second consecutive win of the season.
• Megan Fitzgerald '16 tallied a 6-2, 6-1 victory at fourth singles for a second straight match.

• Yoshino improves to 2-0 on the season and remains perfect in Empire 8 Conference play at 2-0 as well.
• Yoshino becomes the first double-winner of the season with wins at first singles and doubles.
• Plowman and Yoshino's win at first doubles is their third win as a doubles team of their career (3-1).
• Yoshino's 30 singles wins leaves her one win shy of tying the Elmira College record for career singles victories.
• With two wins today, Yoshino's career win total reaches 59, putting her in a two-way tie in EC history with former teammate Kayla Fitzgerald '15 for total career wins.
