Pine Valley, NY -- The Elmira College men's tennis team faced its toughest test of the season this morning, when the Soaring Eagles welcomed 23rd-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology to the Murray Athletic Center for an Empire 8 Conference bout. Despite a valiant effort from the EC men, the nationally-ranked Ducks proved to be too much, as Stevens swept the match for a 9-0 victory.

Stevens jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of 8-1 wins at first and third doubles; however, the Ducks had to fight a bit harder to win its third match at the second position. EC's newly formed second doubles tandem of Patrick Tracey '18 and Colby Upham '19 pushed the Ducks to the brink, but would fall by a single break of serve, 8-6.

Singles action looked to be much of the same for Stevens, as the six-time defending Empire 8 champs claimed wins at all six positions. Tracey once again was Elmira's lone bright spot, forcing his opponent to play a third-set super tiebreaker to decide the outcome of the match. After pulling out the first set with a late break, 7-5, Tracey dropped the second set 6-3, which prompted the super breaker. The second-year talent battled until the very end, but would come up just short in the breaker, as Stevens' Divin Sarthak edged Tracey, 10-6.
