PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's tennis team faced a pair of quality teams in Bard College and RIT, both affiliates of the Liberty League, at today's EC Fall Invitational. Elmira dropped both contests, falling to Bard 5-4 before dropping a 7-2 decision to RIT.
 
Megan Fitzgerald '18 had an outstanding invite, going 4-0 on the day with a pair of wins at first doubles and second singles. Tilila El Yazidi '20 also had a good day, as the freshman talent went 3-1 against the Raptors and Tigers.
 
Elmira's top doubles tandem of Fitzgerald and El Yazidi teamed up for an 8-2 in their first match of the day against Bard and concluded the evening's action with an 8-3 victory over RIT. Fitzgerald continued her superb play with a pair of straight set wins at second singles and won 24-of-29 games played.
 
El Yazidi went 1-1 in singles action at the top spot. She began today's home invitational with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Bard's Lilly Schwartz on the outdoor hard courts at Ernie Davis Academy, before suffering a 6-1, 6-3 setback to the reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Year, RIT's Amelia Ying.
 
Outside of EC's top two singles players, Elmira also received a singles victory from second-year netter Emily Green '18. Green picked up her third singles win of the year with a hard fought 6-4, 6-2 win over Bard's Harriette Slagle at the third spot.
