OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's tennis team suffered another tough loss this afternoon, this one coming at the hands of Oswego State by a 6-3 final. Elmira's three points came at the top two singles positions and at number one doubles.
 
Similar to yesterday's match against Oneonta, Elmira dug itself an early hole as the Lakers earned 8-4 and 8-1 wins at second and third doubles, respectively. EC's top doubles team of Tilila El Yazidi '20 and Megan Fitzgerald '18 earned an 8-3 win, their eighth victory of the season, to bring the score to 2-1 entering singles play.
 
In singles, Oswego claimed wins at third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles to secure its second victory of the season. The Lakers surrendered just four games in those four matches.
 
El Yazidi was a straight-set winner at number one singles, earning a routine 6-1, 6-0 victory. The win for El Yazidi improved her singles record at the top position to 8-2 this season, which is tied for the team lead.
 
Fitzgerald was Elmira's other singles winner this afternoon, as the junior netter pulled out a tight three-setter at the second spot, After dropping the opening set in a tiebreaker, 6-7 (4), Fitzgerald went on to win the following two sets with relative ease, 6-2, 10-3.
