PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's tennis team earned a convincing 7-2 victory over non-conference opponent Oswego State today at the Murray Athletic Center Tennis Domes. The Soaring Eagles swept doubles action and bested the Lakers 4-2 in singles competition.

EC got off to a quick start with the first doubles team of Theo Tran '20 and Patrick Tracey '18, as they earned a convincing 8-0 victory in the first match. The duo of Chris Konow '18 and Stephen Gervase '20 finished next in second doubles, besting the team of Jon Matros and Brian Emigholz by a score of 8-2, earning their first win as a duo. Anthony Colavito '20 and Yaniv Kogan '18 wrapped up the sweep with an 8-3 victory of their own, their first win as a pair this season, at third doubles.

The Soaring Eagles started off the singles competition with the same intensity that they employed in doubles action, as Colavito bested Jimmy Terzian in dominant fashion, 6-4, 6-1, at second singles. Tracey also topped his opponent dominantly, only dropping one point in his third singles victory over Matros, 6-0, 6-1.

Tran's match at first singles was decidedly tougher as he had to earn a comeback victory over John Stanford. After dropping the first set, 4-6, the Houston, Texas, native went on the win the second by a score of 6-2, forcing a decisive third set. In the final set, Tran stormed out to an early lead and held on to win, 10-2, giving him the set and the match.

Kogan wrapped up Elmira's impressive day, as he beat Emigholz in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, at fifth singles.

Unfortunately for EC, it was unable to sweep all of the matches today, losing at both fourth and sixth singles. Konow was bested by Chris Gayvert in a hard-fought match, 6-3, 6-4, at fourth singles and Jordan Curtis '19 was defeated, 6-2, 6-3, by Tyler Buxbaum at sixth singles.
