ELMIRA, N.Y. -- A busy weekend lies ahead for the Elmira College baseball team, as the Soaring Eagles are scheduled to play five non-conference games in a span of three days, four of which are on the road. EC opens the weekend at historic Dunn Field on Friday, April 13, at 3:00 p.m. against Hilbert College, before heading to No. 10 SUNY Cortland and the University of Rochester for doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

• The Hawks own a 6-14 overall record and a 3-5 mark in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action.
• The team dropped both ends of a doubleheader vs. Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday by scores of 5-1 and 12-6.
• Hilbert beat then-No. 19 La Roche 11-9 in the nightcap on April 6 for the program's first-ever victory over a nationally-ranked team.
• Utility man Winfred Nelson owns the team's best ERA (3.46) in five appearances, which including four starts and two complete games.
• At the plate, Nelson is batting .404 (19-for-47) with three extra base hits, 11 RBIs and seven runs scored.

• The 2015 Division III national champion and a powerhouse in the New York Region, SUNY Cortland is currently ranked No. 10 after opening the season in first place.
• The Red Dragons (21-6) have won 13 consecutive games, including a 10-4 decision over Empire 8 Conference foe Ithaca College on Tuesday, April 10.
• Head Coach Joe Brown earned his 700th career win at the helm of the Red Dragons against Ithaca.
• As a team, Cortland's pitching staff ranks second in Division III in earned-run average at 2.28.
• Senior Mike Harrington is a perfect 5-0 with a 2.48 ERA, while classmate Christian Dufresne has started all eight games he's pitched and leads the team with 41 strikeouts in 35.0 innings.
• Senior catcher Justin Teague drove in six of his team-high 26 RBIs against Ithaca and is batting .382 on the season.

• Although the Yellowjackets are 6-10 on the season, they've opened Liberty League play on a strong note with a 6-2 conference record.
• Over the weekend, U of R swept all four games at home against St. Lawrence University, including a wild 16-13 victory in the second game on Saturday, April 7.
• In their most recent game on Wednesday, the Yellowjackets lost 11-7 to No. 19 Oswego State despite two homers from freshman Drew Bankovich.
• Rochester's strength is at the plate, as the team boast a cumulative .309 batting average.
• Aiden Finch and Steve Pickering have started all 16 games and boasts averages of .462 and .431, respectively.
• Finch ranks among the top-10 in the country in on-base percentage (.583) and top-25 in slugging percentage (.769).

LOOKING AHEAD
On Tuesday, April 17, the Purple and Gold will travel to Oswego, New York, to face another ranked program out of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). EC and No. 19 Oswego State will meet that afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for a nine-inning non-conference game.
