ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team begins a season-long five-game road trip today with a non-conference meeting with the Wildcats of Cazenovia College. The game is set for a 4:00 p.m. opening draw at Christakos Field in Cazenovia, New York.

LAST TIME OUT
The Soaring Eagles were defeated by a 19-4 final score in an Empire 8 Conference contest against Utica College on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers scored 14 times in the first half to take a commanding lead. Four different players scored a goal for EC, including Rachael Goetz '20, Danielle Goddard '20, Sarah Hughson '18 and Rachel Grampp '18. Grampp was the only multi-point scorer for the Soaring Eagles with one goal and one assist.

HOCKEY HELPERS
Since their return to the field from the ice, dual-sport standouts Hughson and Grampp have been vital pieces of the Elmira offense. Both players have scored at least one goal in each of the three games they have played thus far. Hughson's high-scoring antics from the ice have carried over well into the lacrosse season, as she's already amassed nine points (6g-3a) for a 3.00 points-per-game average. Grampp (4g-3a) has logged multiple points in each of her three appearances with one assist in every game she's played.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Cazenovia won its season-opener against the University of Northwestern (Minn.) by an 18-14 final score but has since dropped four consecutive games. The largest margin of defeat came in the team's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener against Lancaster Bible College on March 25, when the Chargers prevailed 25-14. However, the most recent loss on Caz's schedule came by just three goals, 17-14, to D'Youville College on March 27. On offense, the duo of Breana Howe and Michaela Breeze have combined for over 65-percent of the Wildcats' point production. Howe, a sophomore from Apalachin, New York, ranks second in the NEAC with 28 goals, including 10 in the season-opening win over Northwestern. Breeze, who paced the Cazenovia women's soccer team in scoring in the fall, is second on the lacrosse team in both points (20) and goals (19).

LOOKING AHEAD
The EC women will travel to Rochester, New York, for an Empire 8 showdown with the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College on Saturday, April 7. The feathered foes will square off at 1:00 p.m.
