LAST TIME OUT
The Soaring Eagles suffered a pair of losses to conclude the season series against Utica College on Saturday, March 31, in Clinton, New York. In the opening bout, the Pioneers put 11 runs on the board in the first three innings to take a commanding 11-5 advantage, one that would remain for the remainder of the bout. In the second contest, Utica's bats remained hot, as it scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Elmira would answer with five runs on 11 hits, but it proved to not be enough, as the Pioneers held on to take a 15-5 triumph.
Dennis Rudolph '18 went 4-for-9 in the two tilts with one triple, three runs and one RBI.
Tommy Fogarty '20 went 4-for-7 with one double with three RBIs and three runs. Â

SCOUTING STEVENS
The Ducks enter Thursday's contest with a 12-10 overall record after winning five of their last six games. All but two of those bouts were played at home in Hoboken, New Jersey, where the team is a stellar 8-2 on the year. However, Stevens is a completely different team on the road, as it has gone 3-8 in its 11 away contests. Most recently, the Ducks split a home doubleheader against Empire 8 Conference foe SUNY Canton on Saturday, March 31. The Ducks dropped the opener by a 5-3 final score, before picking up a 10-8 win in the finale. Senior first baseman Alex Detweiler has commanded the Stevens offense this season with team leads with in batting average (.354), hits (22) and RBIs (21). Detweiler has reached base safely in all but one game this season, the lone exception coming in a bout against perennial powerhouse, Johns Hopkins University. On the mound, junior Danny Poidomani has been fantastic this season, as he paces the team in ERA (2.35), strikeouts (53) and innings pitched (46.0).

SERIES HISTORY
Despite an 8-2 lead in the all-time series for the Ducks, Elmira has brought the rivalry much closer in recent years. The Soaring Eagles have gotten the better of their aerial foes twice in the past year, taking two of three bouts in Hoboken in the 2017 campaign. Stevens answered those setbacks by taking the first game this season by a 9-4 final score on March 28. Although EC has kept the series close in recent games, the Purple and Gold still eye the program's first-ever victory over the Ducks at historic Dunn Field.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following Thursday's doubleheader, the Soaring Eagles continue E8 play with a weekend series against the Bombers of Ithaca College, beginning with a road doubleheader on Saturday, April 7. The opening pitch for the first of three games is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
