FROSTBURG, MD. – A pair of Elmira College women's wrestlers advanced to the championship bout at their respective weight class, while several other Soaring Eagles finished just shy of advancing to medal bouts after navigating through the consolation bracket at the Frostburg State University Open on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Abby Duke '26 delivered a second-place finish at 109 pounds for the Soaring Eagles after opening her tournament run with a 10-0 tech fall victory. Duke followed with a 5-1 decision in the semifinals against Alyssa Guardiola from King University to advance to the title bout.
• In the first-place match, Duke faced nationally ranked Danielle Garcia from King University. Garcia, the No. 4 wrestler at 109 pounds, delivered a pin against Duke at the 1:19 mark to secure the open title.
• Zoey Lints' 27 continued her strong open to 2024 with a second-place finish at 143 pounds for the Purple & Gold. Lints used an 8-3 decision against Alessandra Elliott from D'Youville to advance to the quarterfinals, where she pinned Claudia Keanini from Liberty University.
• Lints used another pin in the semifinals to advance and set up a nationally ranked title bout against Maddie Kubicki from Presbyterian. The title bout would favor Kubicki, who pinned Lints at the 1:26 mark.
• Megan Edwards '27 advanced to the consolation third round at 123 pounds for the Soaring Eagles and notched a fall followed by a tech fall victory over Carmela Cancelmo from East Stroudsburg.
• Edwards moved to the consolation bracket after dropping a tech fall decision against nationally ranked Mia Macaluso from East Stroudsburg.
• At 130 pounds, Gabby Bradigan '26 notched three pins to advance to the consolation semifinals in a highly competitive bracket. Bradigan's pin over Ariana Carrasquillo in the consolation fifth round would set up a bout against nationally ranked Cassia Zammit from Presbyterian.
• Zammit would be victorious via fall as both losses on the day for Bradigan were against nationally-ranked wrestlers.
• Leslie Monterrosa '24 also advanced to the consolation semifinals at 136 pounds for the Soaring Eagles and recorded a pair of tech fall victories and one pin. Monterrosa opened the day with a tech fall victory against Rachel DeGiulio from East Stroudsburg.
• Monterrosa notched a pair of consolation round victories against Claire Wortz from Liberty and Abigail Miller from Tiffin.
• Ella Bode '27 went 2-2 on the day competing at 143 pounds for the Soaring Eagles and notched a pair of pins against Chloe Roland from Liberty and Angelina Hiller from East Stroudsburg.
• Skylah Chakouian '25 advanced to the semifinals at 155 pounds after recording a 10-2 decision in the opening round and a tech fall against Kathryn Vogt-Shields from Sacred Heart. It would be nationally ranked Madison Sandquist from Sacred Heart who defeated Chakouian via a 6-0 decision to move her into the consolation bracket.
• Hazel Dahlquist '25 and Tayana Labady '25 also recorded a win on the day for the Purple & Gold as Dahlquist notched an opening round pin at 170 pounds, while Labady delivered a 5-0 decision in the quarterfinals at 191 pounds.
