ELMIRA, N.Y. – Elmira College women's wrestling head coach
Cody Griswold has been named the 2026 Region 1 Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, the association announced Friday evening.
Griswold, in his fifth season leading the Soaring Eagles, earns his first Regional Coach of the Year honor after guiding the Purple & Gold to a 14-8 record during the 2025-26 campaign. The season followed an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title and featured seven podium finishers at the NCAA Region 1 Tournament, hosted by Elmira College this past weekend at the LECOM Event Center.
In addition, Griswold coached
Zoey Lints '27 and
Megan Edwards '26 to national championship berths in Coralville, Iowa, on March 6–7 after each secured victories in their respective weight classes, with Lints winning at 145 pounds and Edwards at 124 pounds.
As a team, Elmira finished 3rd of 17 teams in the Regional Tournament, while its 14 regular season dual victories marked a program record since its inception.
