Megan Edwards Wins Elite Scholar-Athlete Award For NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Megan Edwards, a junior at Elmira College, is the recipient of the Elite Scholar-Athlete award for the 2025 NCAA women's wrestling championship.

Edward is a History major, five time Dean's List honoree, 2025 Phi Beta Kappa Award winner, was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma in 2024, two time NWCA Scholarship All-American, five time Empire 8 President's List honoree, and had artwork featured in the George Waters Art Gallery during the fall of 2023. Edwards was presented with the award during the women's wresting championship on Friday, March 6 at 4:00 PM (CST) in Coralville, Iowa.

The Elite 90 award is a prestigious award that has since been named the Elite Scholar-Athlete award. Edwards will be the 15th athlete from an Empire 8, full-time member institution to receive the honor. Edwards becomes the second Elmira recipient behind Arianna Smith ('18) who was a women's ice hockey player.

The Elite Scholar-Athlete award recognizes the true essence of student-athletes by honoring the individuals who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The Elite Scholar-Athlete award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken based on the number of credits completed.
