Women's Wrestling Battles at Inaugural 2026 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships

CORALVILLE, Iowa – The Elmira College women's wrestling team traveled three individual wrestlers to Coralville Iowa for the inaugural NCAA National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship. Abby Duke represented in the 110-weight class, Megan Edwards represented in the 124-weight class, and Zoey Lints represented in the 145-weight class.

Most notable, Megan Edwards was named the first ever recipient of the prestigious NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete. She was presented the award by the chair of the NCAA Women's Wrestling Committee, Oscar Ramirez.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Edwards opened the tournament with a match against No. 1 Sara Sterner from North Central (IL) who is 26-1 on the season. Edwards prolonged the match but fell short in a 11-0 tech fall. In her second match of the day, Edwards faced Annesley Day from Tiffin who is 41-9 on the season. Edwards used a trio of two-point takedowns and a pair of four-point takedowns to secure the 16-10 decision and advance on. In her third bout of the day, Edwards went head-to-head with Virginia Foard from King (TN) who is 30-5 on the season. Edwards battled hard but fell short in a 10-0 tech fall to eliminate her from the tournament. 
  • Duke opened the tournament with a match against No. 1 Audrey Jimenez from Lehigh who is 20-0 on the season. Duke battled but fell short in a 10-0 tech fall. In her second bout, Duke faced No. 8 Afftynn Stusse from Wartburg who is 25-6 on the season. Duke worked hard but fell short in a 10-0 tech fall to eliminate her from the tournament.  
  • No. 3 seeded Lints opened the tournament against Alexandra Ford from Emmanuel (GA) who is 26-13 on the season. Lints collected a point for passive time and utilized a two-point takedown but missed the mark and dropped the match in a 5-3 decision. In her second bout of the day, Lints went head-to-head with Margaret Buurma from Grand Valley State who is 25-12 on the season. Lints was able to record a two-point takedown but fell short in an 8-2 decision to eliminate her from the tournament.
