CEDAR FALLS, IA – The Elmira College women's wrestling program opened its appearance at the 2025 NWCA National Dual Meet Championships on Friday with a bye to the championship quarterfinals before dropping a pair of matches against North Central College and Aurora University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
	- No. 13 Elmira would be matched up against No. 3 North Central in the quarterfinals after the Cardinals defeated Mount Olive in the championship first round.
 
	- The Soaring Eagles would get a team point from Abby Duke '26, who wrestled at 110 pounds. Duke dropped a 7-6 decision in her bout after holding a 6-5 lead late in the second period.
 
	- Elmira would also score a team point at 160 pounds as Skylah Chakouian '25 dropped an 11-4 decision. Chakouian battled Sydney Perry, who bumped up a weight for the Cardinals and entered the bout ranked No. 7 at 145 pounds.
 
	- The match between the Soaring Eagles and Cardinals featured 10 nationally-ranked wrestlers, with Duke (No. 8 110 lbs.), Chakouian (No. 10 160 lbs.), and Zoey Lints '27 (No. 5 145 lbs.) representing Elmira.
 
	- No. 13 Elmira faced No. 10 Aurora University in the consolation second round. The match would be decided via tiebreaker criteria after the score was knotted 24-24 following the final bout at 207 pounds.
 
	- Duke recorded the first win of the match at 110 pounds for Elmira with a 10-0 tech fall, while Yenyia Terry '28 followed with a pin for the Soaring Eagles at 117 pounds.
 
	- Elmira recorded back-to-back pins in the match from Lints and Chakouian at 145 pounds and 160 pounds, while Tayana Labady '25 recorded a win via forfeit at 207 pounds.
 
	- Aurora would be declared the winner with the extra point following criteria as the Spartans tallied more first points scored through the 10 weight classes in the match.
 
 
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles return to the mat on Saturday morning. At 9:00 a.m., Elmira will face the University of Mount Olive in the 9th through 12th place bracket. With two wins on Saturday, Elmira could finish as high as 9th overall in the tournament.
