Soaring Eagles Dominant in Home Dual Finale against NEC and MMA

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's wrestling team honored the Class of 2025 before its matches against New England College and Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday inside Speidel Gymnasium. The Soaring Eagles recognized Skylah Chakouian '25, Hazel Dahlquist '25, and Tayana Labady '25 with victories against the Pilgrims and Mariners.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Soaring Eagles battled New England College in the first dual of the afternoon as the Purple & Gold recorded a 34-15 victory in a ranked matchup against the Pilgrims.
Gabby Bradigan '26 recorded the first contested victory of the match for EC with a pin in just eight seconds at 138 pounds. Zoey Lints '27 followed with a 10-0 tech fall in 1:36 for the Purple & Gold at 145 pounds.
Skylah Chakouian '25 notched a pin in her bout at 160 pounds, as she needed just 50 seconds to secure the victory for Elmira.
The Soaring Eagles also received wins via forfeit from Abby Duke '26, Yenyia Terry '28, Hazel Dahlquist '25, and Tayana Labady '25.
In the second match of the day, the Purple & Gold would only have a pair of contested bouts in a 50-0 victory against Maine Maritime Academy.
The first contested bout would be at 124 pounds, as Terry notched her second career pin in just 54 seconds to secure the victory. The other contested bout would come at 145 pounds as Lints dispatched her opponent in 32 seconds to put EC up 35-0.
With her two victories on the day, Chakouian has 98 career wins and 47 career dual wins for the Soaring Eagles. She also recorded her 57th career pin and 16th of the season in the match against NEC.
