  • Returning All-American Zoey Lints won each of her first two bouts of the tournament to advance to the quarterfinals at 145 pounds for the Soaring Eagles.
  • Lints opened the tournament with a 10-1 decision against Grace O'Korn from West Liberty and followed in the second round with a pin in 2:11 against nationally ranked Annie Obermark from Simpson.
  • In the quarterfinals, Lints would be matched up for a second straight year against Iowa's Reese Larramendy. It would be Larramendy who got the 11-0 tech fall win against Lints as the loss snapped a 21-match winning streak for the second-year wrestler for the Purple & Gold.
  • Lints will wrestle Grand Valley State's Emily Medford on Saturday with a chance to advance to the fifth-round wrestleback before eyeing a shot at the consolation semifinals.
  • First-year wrestler Ragan Retell gained plenty of momentum on the first day after dropping her opening bout against nationally ranked Alexandra Szkotnicki from McKendree via a 10-0 tech fall.
  • Retell responded by winning three consecutive consolation bracket matches to advance to the fourth-round wrestleback at 131 pounds for Elmira. In her first consolation bout, Retell earned a pin against two-time national qualifier and 2023 All-American Jessica Corredor from King (TN).
  • Retell then picked up her second pin against Ella Finding from Simon Fraser University to set up a bout with three-time national qualifier and two-time All-American Zoe Gress from East Stroudsburg.
  • Retell and Gress looked to tally as many points as possible in the bout, as Gress controlled the first period, outscoring Retell 7-3. Retell shot for points in the second period and used a pair of four-point takedowns to grab the lead for good with a 16-12 final.
  • Abby Duke advanced to the consolation third round at 110 pounds for Elmira after recording a pin in the opening round and a tech fall in the consolation second round.
  • Duke faced Layla Phillips from Simpson in the consi second round and would notch the 11-0 tech fall 3:51 into the bout. Duke would fall just one win shy of advancing to day two as she was pinned with one second left in the first period by Sam Miller from McKendree.
