Danielle Cleary '18, a 5-foot-8-inch guard, paced the Purple and Gold with 22.0 points per game at the D3 St. Pete Classic, held in St. Petersburg, Florida on December 20-21. She also hauled in 7.0 rebounds per game to go along with a combined two blocks, two steals and one assist in a pair of games against Berry (Ga.) and Ohio Wesleyan.
Although the Soaring Eagles suffered their only loss of the season in the opening round against the Vikings on December 20, Cleary scored a season-high 28 points. Eleven of those points came from the foul line, as she went 11-of-14 from the charity stripe. In a 60-55 victory over Ohio Wesleyan the following day, the senior from Rochester, New York, finished one point shy of the team lead with 16 while collecting nine rebounds. Cleary turned in one of her most efficient performances of the year against the Battling Bishops, as she shot 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from the field and 60.0 percent (3-of-5) from 3-point range.
Through the first nine games of her senior campaign, Cleary has amassed double-digit points on seven occasions. She leads the Soaring Eagles and ranks third in the Empire 8 Conference with 15.7 points per game.
Cleary will lead the EC women into the Empire 8 portion of the schedule, beginning with a road tilt against the Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday, January 2, at 7:00 p.m.
