Katie Granato '19 paced the No. 3/3-ranked women's ice hockey team with four points (2g-2a) in a pair of games during a weekend road trip in Massachusetts. The senior forward from Naperville, Illinois, recorded multiple points in both games, a 2-1 win over Amherst and a loss to fellow New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foe Williams.
Against the Mammoths, Granato assisted on both of Elmira's goals, as the Soaring Eagles overcame a first-period deficit with unanswered scores in the second and third. Her secondary assist helped set-up the game-winning goal, scored by Maddie Evangelous '19 with 1:12 remaining in the third period. The following night against the Ephs, Granato netted both of EC's goals – the fifth multi-goal game of her senior campaign – with her second goal coming on the power play midway through the third period.
Following her four-point weekend, Granato continued her climb up several all-time leaderboards. The reigning All-United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) First-Team honoree became the fifth player in Elmira history to score 60 career goals, while moving into a two-way tie for ninth place in career points (106). Additionally, her power-play goal against Williams marked the 19th of her collegiate career, which places Granato in a three-way tie for sixth.
Granato and the nationally-ranked Soaring Eagles will conclude the 2018 portion of their schedule this weekend with a pair of home bouts against Nazareth College at the Murray Athletic Center. The two-game series begins on Friday, December 14, at 7:00 p.m.
