Lindsey Heaton '19 has been a scoring machine for the EC women's basketball team as a senior, and this past week was no different. The fourth-year point guard led the Purple and Gold with 14.3 points and 5.7 assists per game, while averaging a team-high 38.7 minutes across three Empire 8 Conference contests. On Friday, February 1, Heaton etched her name in the program record books by becoming the seventh player in team history to surpass 1,000 career points, while moving into seventh-place all-time in scoring.
A native of New Milford, Connecticut, Heaton had her highest-scoring game of the week at Nazareth on Tuesday, January 29, with 16 points, including three 3-point field goals. On Friday against Houghton, she netted 14 points, with points Nos. 999 and 1,000 coming on a fourth-quarter layup. Heaton also led the charge in a come-from-behind 64-61 win over Alfred the following afternoon by scoring 13 points with a season-high nine assists and six rebounds.
Through 19 games in 2018-19, Heaton is averaging a career-high 15.9 points, second-most in the Empire 8.
The EC women's basketball team continues its homestand with a 5:30 p.m. matchup against Hartwick College on Tuesday, February 5, at Speidel Gymnasium.
