Connor Powell '20, a second-year forward from Merrimack, New Hampshire, led Elmira's goal-scorers with a pair of tallies to go along with one assist in the two games combined. On Friday against the Camels, Powell registered his third game-winning goal of the season. He followed that up with his seventh multi-point outing of the year on Saturday against the Bison with a power-play strike and an assist, as the Soaring Eagles nearly erased a four-goal deficit in the third period.
Through the first 15 games of his sophomore campaign, Powell ranks second on the team in points with seven goals and a career-high 17 assists. Among national leaders, he is tied for fifth in game-winning goals (3), sixth in assists per game (1.13), and ninth in points per game (1.60). In the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC), he leads all players in assists, game-winning goals and power-play points (10).
Powell and the Elmira men will return to action this weekend in a home-and-home series against Buffalo State. The non-conference series begins in Buffalo, New York, on Friday, January 12, and will conclude at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena on Saturday, January 13, at 7:00 p.m.
