Jacob Magnoli '18 played once this past week and it was a gem, as he scored a career-high five goals to guide the Soaring Eagles to an 11-10 win over Houghton College on Saturday, April 14. The victory is Elmira's first of the season. The Harwinton, Connecticut, native scored at critical moments for the Purple and Gold, as he scored the first two goals of the contest and he scored two of Elmira's final three goals in the critical fourth quarter. In addition to his game-high five tallies, Magnoli also scooped up three ground balls.
Magnoli has appeared in all eight games for the Soaring Eagles this season and now ranks second on the team in goals (8) and third in points (8). Coming into the year with career totals of three points and two goals, the fourth-year midfielder has already obliterated those totals and looks poised to continue his stellar senior campaign.
The Elmira men will have just four days to rest before they have a date with No. 14-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 18. The Soaring Eagles and Ducks are scheduled to take flight at 4:00 p.m. at Campus Field.
