Matt McGaugh '21 turned in a fine round of 18 at the SUNY Cobleskill Jug Classic, hosted by the Fighting Tigers at the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club on Friday, September 7. The Hamilton, New York, native finished in a three-way tie for seventh place out of 47 participants by carding a 10-over par 80, just four strokes off the pace of individual medalist Joe Perry of SUNY Cobleskill (76). McGaugh's score was one stroke shy of the lowest round of his career.
As a team, the EC men finished in a tie for third place with a cumulative score of 330 (+50), the lowest for the Soaring Eagles in a round of 18 since matching that score at the Keuka College Invitational in September of 2016. The Purple and Gold were also able to shave a whopping 30 strokes off of their team score from the season-opening Pitt-Bradford Invitational.
McGaugh will look to lead the Soaring Eagles to a strong finish on Wednesday, September 12, when Elmira returns to the annual Keuka College Invitational at the Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, New York.
