Adam Nichols '20 had a breakout performance for the EC men's soccer team on Wednesday, September 5, in a 6-0 rout of Hilbert College at Campus Field. The junior transfer from Tompkins Cortland Community College had a hand in each of the first four goals Elmira scored with one tally and three assists. The Candor, New York, native dished out assists on EC's first two goals, both of which were netted by Ryan Wallace '22, before finding the back of the net himself in the 54th minute. He capped off his high-scoring effort with his third assist in the 58th minute on a David Rojas '22 score.
The five points amassed by Nichols in the victory over the Hawks are the most by a Soaring Eagle in a game since Michael Bryant '17 logged six (2g-2a) in a 6-1 win over Utica College on September 17, 2016. Among Empire 8 Conference leaders, Nichols is tied for first in assists and fifth in points. With just four games under his belt as a Soaring Eagle, he has already accumulated more assists in a season than any player since 2015.
Nichols and the EC men's soccer team will continue non-conference action on Tuesday, September 11, with a 7:30 p.m. contest under the lights against the No. 23 nationally-ranked Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland.
