Lindsey Heaton '19 led EC women's hoops in a trio of games last week, including the team's first win of the year against D'Youville. The New Milford, Connecticut, native played all 40 minutes in each contest and finished with per-game averages of 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.7 assists.
In a 79-63 triumph over the Spartans of D'Youville, Heaton filled the box score with 12 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. She recorded six points, three assists and one steal in the fourth quarter alone, which helped the Soaring Eagles distance themselves after leading by just three points early in the quarter. Heaton finished her week with All-Tournament Team honors at the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by Marymount University. She logged 17 points with five rebounds and a season-best four steals against the Saints of Marymount on Friday evening. The following afternoon, Heaton scored a season-high 19 points while shooting 53.8 percent (7-for-13) from the field and a perfect 100.0 percent (3-for-3) from the line.
Through the first four games of the year, Heaton leads the Purple and Gold and ranks sixth in the Empire 8 Conference with 16.3 points per game, which has the fourth-year guard on pace to set a new single-season career-high by the season's end.
The Elmira women will hit the hardwood inside Speidel Gymnasium for the first time in 2018-19 on Tuesday, November 20, when the Soaring Eagles host SUNY Cortland. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
