The EC women's basketball team played once on the road last week and earned its second consecutive win by beating Wells, 56-34. Mykenzie Malacusky '23 had a breakout performance, as the first-year guard reached double figures for the first time in her young collegiate career with a game-high 15 points. She sunk a 3-point field goal for the third consecutive game and got to the line for the first time as a Soaring Eagle, where she converted 4-of-5 foul shots. Malacusky also added season highs in rebounds (7), steals (2), and blocks (1), helping the Elmira defense hold its opponent to the fewest points allowed so far this season.
Malacusky has gotten better each time she's stepped onto the hardwood this season. Following her stellar outing against the Express, the Dushore, Pennsylvania, native is tied for second on the team in scoring with 8.3 points per game.
The EC women's basketball team will look for a third consecutive non-conference win on Tuesday, November 26, when the Soaring Eagles visit SUNY Cortland for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
