Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Men's Lacrosse team was even with visiting Ithaca College at intermission, but the Bombers outscored EC 10-1 in the second half en route to a 15-6 victory Wednesday afternoon at Campus Field. The win improves the No. 22 Bombers to 11-6 overall and 6-0 in Empire 8 play, while the loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 3-9 overall and 0-6 in conference competition.
Elmira got on the board first two minutes in when
David Evert '14 (Niagara Falls, NY -- Niagara Wheatfield) made a nice pass to classmate
Christian Archambeault '14 (Horseheads, NY -- Horseheads) for the early lead. Ithaca scored the next four markers with four different players finding the back of the net to take a 4-1 lead early in the second quarter. The Purple and Gold responded scoring four of the next five goals to knot the game at 5-5 at intermission.
The second half was a completely different story as the Bombers outscored EC 6-0 in the third quarter enroute to a 10-1 second half goal advantage. Ithaca outshot Elmira 32-10 in the second half, while turning the ball over just three times compared to 12 Soaring Eagle turnovers. The Bombers held a distinctive 17-9 advantage in faceoffs in the game, while Ithaca went 2-for-3 with the extra attacker and EC was 1-for-4.
Rick Acorn '12 (Barrie, ONT -- Innisdale) led Elmira with two goals, while
Dustin Gatt '14 (Welland, ONT -- Notre Dame College) tallied a goal and two assists.

Brady Richards '14 (Cortice, ONT -- The Hill Academy) all found the back of the net once.
TJ White '12 (Collegeville, PA -- Methacton) paced the Soaring Eagles with six ground balls.
Dave Bucchino '13 (Cedar Grove, NJ -- Bow) returned in net for Elmira making 12 saves.
The EC Men's Lacrosse team takes to the field for their final game of the year Saturday when they host Nazareth College at 3:00 p.m. The Women's Lacrosse team will also play as a part of a doubleheader with its contest starting at noon against Alfred University. Both games will be played at Campus Field.
