Men’s Lacrosse Comes Up Short Against Saxons

Alfred, NY – The EC Men's Lacrosse team battled well throughout, but came up just short against Alfred University falling 9-8 Saturday afternoon at Merrill Field. The Saxons improve to 7-3 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
 
In the first half the Saxons controlled most of the tempo, but the Soaring Eagles were able to answer with a reply almost every time. The Saxons were able to get on the board first and had at least a one goal lead throughout the first half. EC was able to respond and stay within one at the halfway mark, 5-4.
 
In the beginning of the second half EC tied it up early and took the lead with scores from Christian Archambeault '14 and Brady Richards '14. However, the Saxons did not stress and continued to use its offense to get them back on top eventually pulling off the win.
 
Tyler Campbell '13 was the leading scorer for EC recording three goals and one assist. Brian Conzola '14 and Mike DeMar '15 followed with one goal and two assists each. Dave Bucchino '13 played all sixty minutes for EC making 15 saves.  
 
The Purple and Gold will return to action Wednesday, April 17 when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at Campus Field. Game is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
