Men's Lacrosse Falls to Stevens Tech in E8 Finale

Box Score

Hoboken, NJ -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team struggled to get things going on either end of the field against Stevens Tech, falling to the Ducks 23-6. Jackson Correia '14 and Myles Richards '14 each tallied two goals to lead the Soaring Eagles offense.

EC fell into an early hole as Stevens scored seven first-quarter goals while the Purple and Gold could not get any of their shots to find the back of the net. Elmira did breakthrough for three goals in the second quarter, but their goal output was matched by the Ducks, leading to a 10-3 deficit at the break.

The second half was much of the same as Stevens controlled play from the second half faceoff. The Soaring Eagles did get a goal about four minutes into the third quarter, but the Ducks outscored EC 7-1 in the third frame to open up a 17-4 advantage. Richards and David Evert '14 each tallied goals in the fourth quarter, but the deficit was far too much to overcome as Elmira would fall 23-6.

Both Cameron Prior '17 and Kyle Cooke '17 saw action in goal today, making a combined 19 saves. Evert also added an assist to his fourth quarter goal, giving Elmira four players with two points in the game. Brady Richards '14, the fourth player with two points, netted his 31st goal of the season and added an assist, upping his season point total to 41. With the 41 points, Richards becomes the first EC 40-point scorer since 2012 when both Evert and TJ White '12 reached that benchmark.

The Soaring Eagles will wrap-up their 2014 season on Saturday, April 26th with a home contest against Alfred State. The non-conference game is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. on EC's Campus Field. Saturday's home finale will also be the Class of 2014 Recognition Day where the eight members of the Class of 2014 will be recognized for their years of service to the Elmira College men's lacrosse program.
