ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The regular season is quickly winding down for Elmira College men's lacrosse, as the Soaring Eagles will play their final road games of 2018 in back-to-back days this weekend. On Saturday, April 21, EC heads to Oneonta, New York, to face Hartwick College at 1:00 p.m., followed by a trip to La Plume, Pennsylvania, to take on Keystone College the following afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
  • For the first time this season, the Soaring Eagles faced a nationally-ranked foe in No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology.
  • In the midweek Empire 8 Conference matchup, the Ducks came out victorious in a 22-1 decision.
  • Jacob Magnoli '18 scored the lone goal for the Soaring Eagles, with an assist from Kevin DiMagno '20.
  • DiMagno also picked up a game-high seven ground balls.
  • In goal, Jacob Mattice '21 played 45 minutes and recorded 10 saves.

SCOUTING HARTWICK
  • Following a 19-3 rout of Utica College on Wednesday, the Hawks improved to 7-3 overall and 3-2 against Empire 8 competition.
  • Each of the three games in which the Hawks scored double-digit goals resulted in wins, and all three were played on their home turf at Wright Stadium.
  • However, Hartwick relies more on strong play on the back end, as it leads the E8 by allowing just 6.30 goals per game.
  • Sophomore C.J. Alesandrini leads all qualified goalies in the conference with a 6.20 goals-against average and is second with a .581 save percentage.
  • Junior defender Garrison Wojtas leads the E8 with 3.10 caused turnovers per game.

SCOUTING KEYSTONE
  • Keystone, in its fourth season with varsity men's lacrosse, is 0-11 overall.
  • Recent losses have been decided by close margins, however, including a 14-10 defeat on April 16 vs. Mount Saint Vincent.
  • The Giants and Elmira have one common opponent, as SUNY Cobleskill beat both in early March.
  • Caleb Strope (16g-8a) and Ivor Corlette (14g-9a) lead the team with 24 and 23 points, respectively.
  • Strope, a senior midfielder from Horseheads, New York, also paces the Giants in ground balls (31) and caused turnovers (8).
  • EC and Keystone will be meeting for the first-time ever on Sunday afternoon.

LOOKING AHEAD
On Saturday, April 28, the Soaring Eagles will celebrate Class of 2018 Recognition Day at Campus Field when they take on the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College. The regular-season finale will begin at 1:00 p.m.
