Leslie Monterrosa '24 was honored before the No. 22 Elmira College women's wrestling program hosted New England College on Wednesday night inside Speidel Gymnasium as the Soaring Eagles recorded a 41-6 victory in their final dual of the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The match opened at 155 pounds as Skylah Chakouian '25 faced NEC's Rebecca Eaton. Chakouian gained an early lead on the scoreboard against Eaton and notched a pin at the 1:07 mark to secure the opening five points for the Purple & Gold.
- Hazel Dahlquist '25 followed at 170 pounds for EC and would match up against Karime Camarena-Tejeda. The bout would quickly swing in the favor of Dahlquist, who needed just 38 seconds to notch a pin against Camarena-Tejeda.
- At 191 pounds, Tayana Labady '25 faced NEC's Zoe Waters for the second time in as many days. Labady recorded the first four points of the bout before both traded four-point moves to put Labady up 8-4. Labady closed the match with two more points to notch the 10-4 decision.
- NEC recorded its lone victory of the dual at 101 pounds as Alexis Dobson notched a 10-0 tech fall win against Elmira's Taylor Goguen '26.
- Elmira notched four victories via forfeit in the match as Abby Duke '26, Ana Martins-Garcia '27, Gabby Bradigan '26, and Tess Clabaugh '27 were victorious for the Purple & Gold.
- Megan Edwards '27 recorded a pin at 123 pounds wresting against NEC's Olivia Delegas as Edwards needed just 41 seconds to secure the five points for EC.
- The match would be officially closed out at 143 pounds as Monterrosa battled NEC's Olivia Wojtusik. Monterrosa would be victorious in her final bout inside Speidel Gymnasium as she notched an 8-2 decision to secure the 41-6 victory for Elmira.
- Three extra bouts between Elmira and NEC saw Hailey Berry '27 and Ella Bode '27 record victories via fall, while NEC's Alexis Dobson recorded a 10-0 tech fall against Martins-Garcia.

The Purple & Gold travel to Lock Haven, Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 24
th for the NCWWC Region 1 Championships. The event will determine the top four finishers from each of the ten weight classes that will advance to the national tournament in Iowa.
