This week’s honor marks the second EC Athlete of the Week award for Ayaka Yoshino '16 this season. The fourth-year star solidified her place in Elmira women’s tennis history by setting the career record for singles victories on September 19th with a 6-1, 6-1 first singles win against St. John Fisher College. With another first singles win on September 20th against Utica College, Yoshino now has 33 career singles victories.

Yoshino also swept her first doubles matches against the Cardinals and the Pioneers over the weekend. She now sits in sole possession of second place in Elmira history in career doubles wins (32). With 65 overall wins, the Yokohama, Japan, native needs only five more to tie Olivia Garcia ’05 for the most career wins in EC history.

The Elmira women’s tennis team will return to action on Tuesday, September 22nd, when the Soaring Eagles travel to Ithaca College to take on the Bombers at 4:00 p.m.
